Our talented Arrive employees come from a variety of impressive universities from all across the country. We sat down with Francesca Izzo, Account Executive, to learn more about her journey from Loyola University Chicago to Arrive, and her advice for college students who might be considering a career in logistics!
Where did you go to school and how did you first hear about Arrive?
I went to Loyola University Chicago and graduated in 2019. Through my connections made at Loyola, I was offered an internship at a tech-enabled freight brokerage. The company did not have enough funding and sadly ended, but my manager who worked in the logistics field told me about Arrive and thought it would be a seamless transition because of Arrive’s hard-working team and start-up vibe. In February of 2020, I officially became part of the Arrive team!
How did you become interested in going into the supply chain & logistics industry?
I studied International and Global Studies with minors in Marketing and Roman Culture. That being said, I never thought of the supply chain and logistics industry as being something I would go into, but I was open to trying anything and the fast-paced, problem-solving environment got me hooked right away!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love getting to develop both my internal and external relationships and I really enjoy working with my co-workers in Austin and Chicago to provide the best service possible for our customers. I also enjoy providing cross-country service!
What keeps you at Arrive?
Being empowered by our leaders to come up with new solutions and always being given so many opportunities to try new things!
Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?
My advice would be to go into the “real world” with an open mind and a willingness to try anything. Take every opportunity you can to learn new things even though you are finished with school. Never stop learning.
If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell myself to become fluent in a new language.
For someone about to start a career in logistics, what would you tell them?
For someone starting a logistics career, I would tell them that punctuality and open communication will get you far!
